The Ryugyong Hotel in Pyongyang, north Korea, began being constructed in 1987.  It was designed by Baikdoosn Architects and was designed to be completed in June 1989. However in 1992 the hotel had still not been completed and construction had to do be stopped due to the economic crisis. Construction started again in 2008 and is due to be completed in July 2013. When it is completed the hotel will be the 47th tallest building in the world. It will be a 105 story skyscraper shaped as a pyramid. It is referred to as the hotel of doom because of North Korea seeing the building as an embarrassment that was 26 years delayed.
I personally do not like this hotel with its pyramid shape looking very similar to a profit graph. I believe that the money could have been better used. The fact that it was meant to be the tallest hotel out of America was impressing but because of its 26 year delay the building is now greatly over shadowed by other taller successes such as the Burj Khalifa hotel in Dubai.
